The U16 Girls began the new basketball season with a trip around the coast to take on Camps Bay High School. With no substitutes on the bench, the 5 girls dominated the match and Waldorf came home with a 47 – 12 point win.

The U13 Boys and Girls followed that result with two impressive wins against Siyabulela Primary School from Langa. In the first match our girls won 18 – 9, and the boys 23 – 4.

On Tuesday the U16 Boys hosted Manyano High School from Khayelitsha in an exciting game of basketball, where Manyano High took a 12 – 0 lead at the halfway mark. Waldorf gave a much better account of themselves in the second half, as they fought their way back into the encounter outscoring Manyano High 8 points to 7 in the third quarter. The final quarter belonged to the Waldorf boys as they scored 8 points with Manyano High getting only 2. But there was not enough time for the boys to complete their comeback, losing the encounter 21 points to 16. A much-improved second half from the boys and great defense, which they can hopefully take to their next game.

On Thursday afternoon St Cyprian’s Girls School visited our campus to take on our U16 Girls basketball team. It was not a good day for the visitors as our girls ran away with the match 33 points to 3.

Well done to the teams who managed victories this week, we’re looking forward to some more beautiful basketball.
