Press Pause, Go Play! Is a Must – Attend Event for Parents Tackling Tech, Social Media and online Gaming with Kids.

Navigating the world of smartphones and social media with children is no easy task. We’re excited that we are all invited to “Press Pause, Go Play!”. Please attend one of the evenings next week with your fellow class parents, friends and family. The power is in numbers and in connecting together around a common goal – to protect our kids’ development and childhood in the face of the social media and tech juggernaughts they have to navigate in today’s world.

All Cape Town schools are invited – so be sure to get your tickets before they sell out.

The combination of smart devices, social media and online gaming is significantly affecting kid’s social, emotional and physical development and creating a generational mental health crisis. Children, t(w)eens and young adults are all affected.

These evenings will be powerful, insightful and impactful. Filled with expert talks, meaningful connections and practical solutions they will be unlike other school-led tech-talks that leave parents feeling disempowered and bereft in the face of big tech. At Press Pause Go Play, SFC will empower you to enable change in your families and communities. Unlike the present where all we could do was rely on parental controls, time limits and family rules which result in perpetual arguments with your children… these events will enable a shift in societal norms where everyone can stand together to minimise the peer pressure children feel when they are “left out” from having a device or access to social media and online gaming.

Just like with the societal shift towards using seatbelts and not smoking: when we have empirical data that proves harm to our wellbeing, something needs to change. And it starts with us now. We encourage you all to attend.
